GEORGE WASHINGTON STATED

Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples' liberty teeth.

First Inaugural Address of George Washington...April 30, 1789

The preservation of the sacred fire of liberty and the destiny of the republican model of government are justly considered as deeply, perhaps as finally, staked on the experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people.

The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Abraham Lincoln said:

"In this age, and in this country, public sentiment is everything. With it, nothing can fail; against it nothing can suceed. Whoever molds public sentiment goes deeper than he who enacts statutes, or pronounces judicial decisions."

James Madison Declared

The adversaries of the Constitution seem to have lost sight of the PEOPLE altogether in their reasonings on this subject; and to have viewed these different establishments not only as mutual rivals and enemies, but as uncontrolled by any common superior in their efforts to usurp the authorities of each other. These gentlemen must be reminded of their error. They must be told that the ULTIMATE AUTHORITY, wherever the derivative may be found, RESIDES IN THE PEOPLE ALONE. U.S. Dept. of State....DUMB?

  1. Balfour Declaration of 1917
  2. Palestinian Mandate of 1922
  3. Peel Commission of 1936
  4. UN Partition Plan for Palestine of 1947
  5. Oslo Accords of 1993
  6. Camp David Offer of 2000
Other assorted "peace talks":
  • Madrid Peace Conference of 1991
  • Wye River Memorandum of 1995
  • Oslo II of 1995
  • Taba of 2001
  • Road Map for Peace of 2003
  • Geneva Accord of 2003
These were all the "official" "peace talks" that were conducted between Israel and the Arab world. The one thing they all have in common is the exerting a constant pressure on Israel to make multiple and unreciprocated concessions to the Arab world. All of these so called "peace talks" have resulted in agreements which Israel has tried to keep and the Arab world has NOT. Now beginning on Sept. 2 in Washington the U.S. State Department wants new Middle East "peace talks" to begin.

What folly; how can Israel deal with the Arab world when since 1917 the Arab world has not kept their side of agreements. This is a waste of time and just enables the agenda of the Arab world to make slow steady progress by continuing their modus operandi and slowly weakening Israel through the use of the "peace talks offence". At some point in time, the U.S. has to draw a line in the sand and say "Enough"! Both parties must live up to the agreements or they are not worth a damn or the shifting political sand and economic policies which have been very generous to parts of the Arab world...the give away of vast sums of American dollars to the partner that does not keep its agreement will be stopped.

When are we, the U.S. going to stop doing dumb things again and again which have never worked in the past and will not change until the political infrastructure in the Arab world changes. Withholding the money may force those political changes to take place...money talks...peace talks walk.

Barack Obama : 7 Lies in under 2 Minutes

Pres. Obama due overdue credit?

According to Eugene Robinson, as noted in his Washington Post column "Views", President Obama deserves "some overdue credit". I say baloney to Mr. Robinson's "Views". We are worse off than on the day that the President was sworn into office.

Mr. Robinson says that the Expectations of the new president were absurdly high. I agree with the absurdly but who promoted and pushed those Expectations?.....the national media and then candidate Obama's own campaign staff. There was all sort of rhetorical flourish and promises for CHANGE and HOPE and transparency in his new administration. I have not seen much of that as reflected in Pres. Obama's approval ratings; in fact they seem to be nosediving even further.

Mr. Robinson goes on to further state that Pres. Obama should be given credit in at least four areas:
  1. The pull out of the last U.S. Combat Troops in Iraq
  2. The bail out of General Motors to the tune of $50 billion dollars
  3. The containment of the Gulf oil spill.
  4. The President's statement at the Ramadan dinner in regards to the mosque controversy.
In regards to #1: the prudence and wisdom of this action will not be determined in the short run but history and historians will determine if this was a wise action or a political one.

In regards to #2: the creation of "Government Motors" with the government owning 61% of the company; was this truly a move to save the company that did not deserve to be saved because of a poor business plan or was it a gift to the United Auto Workers Union for all that labor did to get the President elected.

In regards to #3: the circus that followed the oil spill and the deaths of eleven oil rig workers, if it was not such a sad and massive catastrophe, could be viewed at best as the government bureaucracy working at its best to get in the way of actions by BP, the State and private citizens to clean up the mess. To date the scientific authorities believe that at least 80% of the oil is still in the Gulf...so much for containment.

In regards to #4: It is of interest that the President stated his or I should say the U.S. Constitution's stance on the "mosque at ground zero" issue before a group of Muslims to supposedly gain the "high ground" on this issue but would not discuss his personal opinion, to the rank and file American community, regarding the appropriateness and wisdom of an element of the Muslim community which is pushing the building of this Muslim mosque and center.

These are the reasons that I disagree with Mr. Robinson. President Obama is not due any overdue credit at this time. Let time and history be the judge of his Presidency and decisions.

War Diary...Ted R. Gorski USN, Radarman 2nd Class

"San Francisco, Saturday, Oct. 28, 1944....U.S.S. Haskell (APA117)

We left Pier 5 at 0830. Lost sight of the Golden Gate at 0843. We stayed on course of 240 degrees all day and night. We average a speed of 16 knots. I stood the 0800 to 1200 watch.

Sunday, Oct. 29, 1944...

I stood the 1200 to 1600 watch today. We didn't pick up a single target. There are plenty of seasick fellows aboard. I didn't have much of an appetite. I didn't eat dinner. I stood the 1600 to 2000 watch. Talk is that we are bound for New Guinea. I ate a light meal this evening. The sea is very rough.

Monday, Oct. 30, 1944...

Got up at 0530. I stood the 0800 to 1200 watch. Didn't eat any breakfast. A lot of the fellows are still seasick. I haven't been seasick as of yet although I didn't feel any too good. I ate 3 sandwiches and 3 apples for dinner. I feel pretty good. The sea is still rough. We are about 1/3 of the way to Honolulu. All evening I read a book entitled "Assignment in Brittany". An interesting story. I retired early.

Tuesday, Oct. 31, 1944...

I got up at 0330. I stood the 0400 to 0800 watch. A ship (cargo vessel) which was 30 hours behind us was torpedoed last night. It was on the same route as we were. After torpedoing the ship the submarine surfaced and shelled it. As a result the ship was sunk with half the crew missing. We are traveling ourselves as we have no escort. We had a fire in Number One hold at 1100. It was under control at 1130. I stood watch from 1800 to 2000. It is getting warmer every day."

Pres. Obama....don't lecture Israel

President Obama, whose domestic, economic and foreign policies are in shambles has no business lecturing Israel's Prime Minister Netenyahu at their last meeting in July. The President presumed to push Israel and Mr. Netenyahu into a position of "willing to take risks for peace." Since Israel's founding over 60 years ago, that nation has taken many "risks" in the hope that it would further in developing peace with the Palestinians and Gaza. All of these risks were to no avail, they were unilateral on the part of Israel and were rewarded by more rockets, bombs and attacks against Israel's military and innocent civilians.

Over the last 60 plus years, Israel has been rewarded, by the Arab world, with nothing in return except more violence and more killing and more vitriol. Rational people and governments eventually reach a point when they have an epiphany; you can't deal with the other side until they have a conversion, a change of heart. Until that time comes nothing will change for the better and our President is intelligent enough to know that fact.

The Gathering Storm

In the very early days of our country's existence it was often called the American Union of States. The unity of the United States of America was forged out in two major storms, the Revolutionary War against Great Britain and the War Between the States (the Civil War) a domestic war among ourselves. The first war was fought to free ourselves from the tyranny of King George the III and the English parliament which abused us and the second for a variety of economic, moral (slavery), cultural and racial issues. These two storms eventually passed after the loss of many lives and after the soil of America was sanctified by the blood of many Americans...it, the United States now is a sacred place because of the lives which were lost to forge and hammer it into the United States, the Union.

Today another storm is gathering in this country; a storm of direction, a storm which will determine weather we continue to follow the path and foundations and principles which our Founding Fathers laid out in the Constitution of the United States or one that is made up to fulfill the whims and fancies of the politically elite. Will our country continue to be a country of law or a country of men who can warp and corrupt it in the so-called name of "progress"; who can change that which we call good and virtuous into bad and evil. If those who promote and proselytize win the battle for moral relativism in this country I believe we will loose the Republic which our Founders gave to us and will dishonor all those who gave their last in the aforementioned storms.

A NEW QUARTET...has been formed?

In the very recent past you could always count on the so called political entity of the European Union, the United Nations and Russia as being the "Triumvirate" that was uniformly anti-Israel. Now to the surprise of most American citizens the United States in the form of it's President, Barack Obama has joined that group to form a new "Quartet" that is anti-Israel. President Barack Obama has gone out of his way to make his feelings known to the people of Israel. Shortly after moving into the Oval Office, President Obama returned a bust of Winston Churchill to the British Embassy in the District of Colombia. You have to understand historically Winston Churchill considered himself as one of the "authors" of Britain's embrace of Zionism via the Balfour Declaration of 1917. This Declaration basically stated that the British Goverment favored the establishment of a national home for the Jewish people in Palestine. Now you can understand why Churchill had to be removed from Pres. Obama's office; a difference of idealogies?

Moving forward in time to 2009 in Cairo, in a speech, President Obama then stated that, in part, Israel existed because of the Jewish suffering in the Holocoust and that Palestinian people including Muslims and Christians have suffered in trying to establish a homeland also. The equivalency of these two diverging statements I believe does not exist at the same level. This White House thinks differently about the State of Israel; considerably different than all previous administrations.

Israel with its deep history of nationhood extending back to the time of King David, 3000 years ago and even before that another 1000 to 1500 years is beyond unintelligible to the current Obama Adminstration. American liberals and progressives will never be able to understand or put themselves in the shoes of the people and the State of Israel. I believe this is a point in time, a tipping point, in our relationship with Israel.
