In these dire financial times with the Country itself not knowing how to meet it's obligations the McHenry County Board of Trustees approved a 9.9 percent increase in its levy. Most individuals, families and small businesses are trying how to just survive over the next three to four years.
Trustees Cynthia Kisser, Carol Larson, Linda Liddell and Mary Miller supported the increase; Ronald Parrish and Barbara Walters voted against it.
What this means is that MCC wants about $30,000,000. million (yes that is with an M for million) in added residential taxes for next year; I think that is totally insane. Now is the time to sit tight and not go about and build a monument to county insolvency.
If this continues people and businesses will move out of McHenry County...to expensive to live here not to mention the State of Illinois which is going down the dumper.
