"Think what you do when you run in debt; you give to another power over your liberty." ...Benjamin Franklin
Thomas Jefferson wrote:
"The maxim of buying nothing without the money in our pockets to pay for it would make our country one of the happiest on earth. Experience during the (Revolutionary) war proved this; and I think every man will remember that, under all the privations it obliged him to submit to during that period, he slept sounder and awoke happier than he can do now." Ford, Writings of Thomas Jefferson, 4:414.)
President Washington made it perfectly clear when he said in an address to Congress: "No pecuniary consideration is more urgent than the regular redemption and discharge of the public debt; on none can delay be more injurious, or an economy of time more valuable."
President Obama, I guess you don't subscribe to these fundamental principals of these Founding Fathers of our country... that is a shame that will haunt us and our great, great grandchildren.

Well said. Sadly, there are not enough politicians (on either side of the aisle) who actually do subscribe to the the fundamental principles of our founders.
Sometimes I get depressed wondering if anyone really cares about this country or if they only care about themselves and what's in it for them. I hope the US has not become a country of narcisists and that content of character counts not just the way someone sounds in front of a teleprompter.
I hear you on that. Apathy and narcissism have pretty much been the cause the downfall of all great civilizations throughout history. I'm teaching my daughters to really care about what is going on and to get involved when necessary. I'm just hoping that others are doing the same.
